Lithionics RV-C integration with Victron Cerbo GX

Modified on Thu, 29 Feb at 6:16 PM

Lithionics Battery uses CAN RV-C protocol for data communication and integration with other power management components such as inverters and chargers. Victron power equipment is a popular choice in many system designs, but until recently it did not support RV-C protocol, which made it difficult to integrate with Lithionics batteries. Victron’s own ecosystem uses the Cerbo GX controller as a communication hub between various Victron devices, such as the Solar Charge Controller, the MultiPlus Inverter/Charger, a GX Touch 50 touchscreen control panel, etc.

Starting with the release of Cerbo GX firmware v2.90 introduced native RV-C support, allowing direct CAN connection from Cerbo GX to the vehicle RV-C network, which opens several exciting possibilities for complete system integration:

  • Lithionics BMS controls charging values in real time, commands MultiPlus inverter/charger and SmartSolar charge controllers to prevent overcharging the battery, which avoids nuisance BMS disconnects.
  • Battery data such as SOC, Voltage, Current, Temperature shows up natively on GX Touch 50 screen.
  • Warnings and Alarms for battery events such as Low/High Voltage, Low/High Temperature show up natively on GX Touch 50 screen.
  • RV-C multiplex systems (RV Control Panels) can display Inverter and Solar data, turn the Inverter On/Off, set AC shore power breaker limit, allowing customer friendly integrated RV control experience.
